We're on the road again, this time on a schooner cruise off the coast of Maine. We've had a 2 day stop with our soon to be Florida neighbors, the Stivilas. Soon we will leave here for the 3 hour trip to Rockland Maine where will meet up with other friends Sandy and Tom. Boarding is at 6:00PM this evening.
-47 and fastest wind speeds of 231MPH. The winds we experienced were around 60 MPH and it was a bit nippy at 40 degrees.
The country side is beautiful, very Ohioish, except, of course, the mountains.
There is a small cog railway available but we chose the not wide enough road to the top. This trip must be done in 1st gear and even at that we had to stop because the breaks started to smell and needed to cool
Where are Judy and John? Unless you went across the border into Vermont after leaving Mt. Washington, you are in NH. That's my old stomping grounds. Been there many times and even hiked to the summit on my first camping trip with Alex's dad back in 1986. My last trip there was in 2009 with Ruthie and we stayed at the Mt. Washington Inn. Did you happen to stop there for a cold beverage on the veranda? It's a beautiful spot! I hope the weather cooperates on your schooner trip. Give the coast a kiss for me....I miss it. I am so tickled that you are FINALLY being able to experience it and hope that you come away saying, "AHA! NOW I understand why Beth loves it so much!!" Enjoy!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you J and J! Hope you are having better weather than we are, UK, Ireland, Europe! We are all in the grips of some wierd weather, cloudy, rain, cool - 60s - not like summer at all. Haven't spent much time in Vermont but it looks lovely from your pics. Enjoy the Schooner trip, not for us though, the only schooner I could take is a schooner of sherry! See you in the Fall
